MAG Technical Writer Intern in Aberdeen, Maryland

Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking a part-time Technical Writer Intern (approximately 30 hours per week) who will work closely with Program and Project Management professionals to provide support to MAG Aerospace for technical documentation requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding team. Your role involves documenting and gaining insights into the technical documentation and proposal process. MAG’s exceptional team specializes in program management services, overseeing large, complex, mission-critical programs from inception to completion. By actively participating in this dynamic environment, you’ll gain valuable experience and contribute to the team’s success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical writing support for program office.

  • Work with program/project teams to develop various technical documents.

  • Organizes material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.

  • Participates in team meetings and contribute to the establishment of improved documentation processes.

  • Works with technical resources to improve document quality and usability.

  • Provide advanced technical writing support to design, develop, and support writing accurate, highly-technical management documents, executive-level briefings, policy drafts, marketing products and technical documents, manuals, white papers, design specification documents, project plans, test plans, requirement documents, briefings, forms, surveys, release notes, memos, SMS text messages, brochures, talking points, testimonies, speeches, articles, newsletters, correspondence, press releases, letters, reports, meeting minutes, design documents, flyers, posters, invitations, product catalogs, notices, instructions, communications campaign plans, media relations content, case studies, executive bios, speaking proposals, guidance documents, fact sheets, SharePoint content, web content, social media content, and other communications

  • Prepare required technical documentation and expertise for any documentation tasks

  • Ensure that all documents are properly saved in SharePoint with the proper meta-data and tags, allowing for easy retrieval of required documents and information

  • Implement permission settings to ensure documents cannot be modified without going through the proper workflow and approvals

  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Excellent MS Office skills (MS Word, Adobe)

  • Demonstrates an ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit and finalize written products in multiple formats for a variety of audiences.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to share work and articulate the ideas behind the work

  • The ability to conduct independent research and solve problems independently

  • The ability to work in a team environment and work with multiple employees on various projects

  • Ability to respond effectively to changing project requests and deliver quick turnarounds, if necessary

  • An excellent eye for detail

  • Driven to make an impact in a rapidly growing organization

  • Ability to complete a project from start to finish

Clearance

  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Education

  • Currently pursuing and enrolled in a degree program in communications, technical writing, or a related writing area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in an office/field environment
