Bangor Savings Bank Junior Business Intelligence Analyst in Bangor, Maine

The primary role of the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst is to meet the information and data needs of decision makers and producers in the various business lines within the Bank. BI Analysts take requests and gather requirements for reports, dashboards, scorecards, and other forms of information delivery, translate those requirements into technical solutions, implement the solutions, and maintain them over time.

At the Junior level, the BI Analyst is learning the skills necessary to perform the tasks outlined. At the Senior level, the BI Analyst is able to service nearly all needs within his or her area(s) of expertise. A Principal-level BI Analyst is additionally expected to provide leadership and mentoring to other BI Analysts. At the Principal level, the BI Analyst possesses expert-level knowledge of analytic tools and techniques as well as several lines of business.

Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrates ownership of service requests and is able to perform a discovery process with an internal customer to operationalize potentially vague requests

  • Possesses, maintains, and extends competence with reporting and analytics tools, data structures, and other relevant technical disciplines. Level of competence is to be commensurate with level of position.

  • Applies Bank standards and industry best practices to all work efforts

  • Responsible for ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and maintained.

  • Leads and mentors other staff as appropriate.

  • Performs additional duties as requested

  • Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others; focusing upon the attainment of bank goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork

  • Conforms to acceptable punctuality/attendance standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook

Business Partner Relations:

  • Coordinates tasks/activities with business partners and vendors as appropriate.

Compliance and Control:

  • Assists in ensuring that the Bank complies with local, state and federal regulations

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; four-year college degree or equivalent work experience strongly preferred. At the Principal level, a graduate degree is strongly preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong documentation skills, to include proficiency with MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS- Visio.

  • Experience performing financial analyses or other similar tasks. At the Senior and Principal level, expert-level knowledge of analysis is expected.

  • Strong knowledge of the business of banking. At the Senior level, expert-level knowledge of at least one line of business is expected. At the Principal level, expert-level knowledge of at least two lines of business is expected.

  • An analytical approach to problem solving and process improvement

  • The willingness and ability to maintain knowledge regarding relevant current and emerging technologies and industry trends and best practices.

  • The ability to successfully participate in team endeavors, and to positively influence decision-making processes.

  • The willingness and ability to convey highly-technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • The ability to provide effective training and mentoring to Business Intelligence staff.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
