JOB TITLE: Community Outreach Intern

DEPARTMENT: CTA Red Line Extension Project

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

· Assist with digital and in-person outreach efforts (may include drafting language for social media engagement, project communication, talking points, presentation content, and other public engagement activities).

· Assist with and provide lived expertise on youth engagement strategies and outreach.

· Able to work independently and is comfortable with or willing to grow into assignments that may be ambiguous or are not directly, but indirectly, tied to outreach.

· Attend project related community events and be willing to go the extra mile.

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General support of outreach team; duties and tasks as needed/assigned.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Third or 4th year student enrolled full or part-time at an accredited college or university majoring in Journalism; Public Relations; Communications; Management; Marketing; Business; Urban Planning; Public Administration; or related field of study.

JOB EXPERIENCE: Scholastic achievements and/or previous work experiences in the above listed qualifications are bonuses for consideration as well as grade point average, interpersonal skills, and a team player attitude.

KEY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS: Preferred candidate should have a strong interest in social media, current affairs, local community impact issues, and writing with their finger on the pulse of public and community outreach along with current methods utilized for the creation of a successful public/community outreach plan. Preferred candidate should also possess ability to be flexible, well-organized, and self-sufficient.

Start of Internship: June 3, 2024, End of Internship: Aug 2, 2024

Hours – 10am to 3pm (25 to 30 hrs. a week; hybrid)
