Description:

Position provides financial reports to external state agencies such as NC Dept of Revenue and State Treasury by researching, analyzing, and summarizing accounting data requiring monthly and annual reports.

Additional assignments include professional level accounting work involving responsibility for general accounting and financial management functions. The referenced assignments relate to auditing disbursement requisitions which require interpretation of fiscal and general managerial policies, preparing financial transaction entries including but not limited to expense re-allocations (for procurement card, campus postage, utility and repair and maintenance charges), journal entries, reversing and correcting entries, transfer of funds to other State agencies through Cash Management System, preparing other required financial reports including monthly non-employee tax withholding from nonresident contractors due to NC Department of Revenue.

Assist in 1099-Miscellaneous and IRS 1042 reporting process, documentation of procedures, system testing and recommendation of procedural changes.

Interact with departments, co-workers and management to analyze or resolve issues.

Performing managerial services for the Accounting Office by assuming some of the responsibilities of the Disbursements Accounting Manager during her absence.

Process international wire transfers for vendor payments. Other duties as assigned.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The mission of the Accounting Office, is to provide an effective and efficient financial reporting and cash management/disbursement operation within the Comptroller’s Office, which supports the instructional and research mission of the University.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework

or

Associate’s degree in Accounting

or

Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework

or equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related discipline.

No less than 2 years of relative experience.
