Summary:
The Patient Service Manager oversees the patient services area assuring that patients receive the proper foods for their appropriate diet. The manager also ensures that patients are satisfied with the products and services that is provided.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for patient food services and satisfaction. This includes managing and directing the staff in the patient services area. Responsible for the patient menu and food products needed for all patient services needs. Also responsible for the procurement of all food and supplies for all of the departmental needs. Develops and organizes processes in the delivery of all patient services, to include menu development, diet office and nutrition hostess programs and processes. Also responsible for assisting with other departmental activities and functions as directed by the Department Director. Maintains all compliance related functions within the Patient services area to include adhering to all regulatory guidelines such as HACCP, Health Department codes and DNV guidelines. Takes action to prevent and correct any deficiencies within any of these guidelines. Responsible for maintaining processes that monitor and correct all deficiencies. Conducts and oversees inspections of areas within the patient services department. Ensures that all safety guidelines and materials are maintained and kept up to date.
• Responsible for all Staff within the Patient Services area. This includes the involvement and decision making in hiring staff, training them though delegation and corrective action when appropriate. Prepares a substantiated written performance appraisal on each supervised associate and presents via a verbal conference, at least annually. Schedules staff accordingly to the area needs. Delegates duties appropriately to patient services supervisors and leaders, giving them opportunities for career development. Follows proper Corrective action steps as outlined by the organization.
• Controls budgetary areas within the Patient Services area as well as overall purchasing. This is accomplished through assisting with the budgeting process, adhering to the proper purchasing guidelines and processes, recommending capital equipment and innovation in researching new systems and initiatives. Also schedules staff appropriately withinbudgetary guidelines and enforces productivity goals.
• Responsible for achieving desired customer/patient satisfaction scores and providing services that are of high standards. This includes monitoring survey scores, setting up audit and monitoring tools to insure that standards are maintained. It also requires that excellent customer service is given to all internal areas of the Nutrition services department, utilizing good communication skills and showing a positive attitude in all interactions.
• Continues to show initiative in personal growth and development. This is accomplished by maintaining all CEU’s and certifications required for the position as well as attending seminars, in-service training and required organizational meetings and training. Also develops area supervisors and encourages staff development and engagement. Develops and has monthly in-services with all patient service staff.

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• At least 5 years of food service experience
• 1 year of supervisory or management experience
Preferred:
• Bachelors or Associates in Food Management
• ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
