We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to take Amazon.com Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience managing people with varying skill sets, creating, tracking, and controlling budgets, devising strategies, mentoring people in all levels, sponsoring projects and proposing technical solutions.

Customer trust is foremost for cloud services provided by Amazon Web Services. Our customers must be guaranteed that their data will never be exposed. This Rack Decom Manager will manage a team that executes the decommission, tracking and audits of all media. This includes but is not limited to all media types (disks, solid state disks, flash cards etc). The Rack Decom Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all operational processes and SLA's are met and must guide and mentor the team to ensure all work is carried out safely and securely.

Daily duties include:

  • Ensure the highest level of adherence to safety procedures and policies and maintain and develop a strong safety culture within the team.

  • Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly

  • Coordinate change management resources

  • Guide, train and educate data staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues

  • Manage and deliver mid-size projects

  • Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs

  • Manage a diverse team of decom technicians with varying skills

  • Provide weekly report to the Cluster Manager

  • Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations

  • Recruit and train decom technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels

  • Write and deliver performance reviews for staff

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, engineering, computer science or a related field.

  • 4+ years of experience managing IT infrastructure projects from initiation to closure

  • 4+ systems administration experience in a data center environment

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years of experience managing IT infrastructure projects from initiation to closure

  • Safety management experience.

  • Experience with project management best practices such as PMI, Waterfall, and Agile

  • Ability to successfully manage cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders and varying levels of management

  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, and SharePoint

  • PMP Certification

  • Six Sigma Green Belt
