The role
The technical business analyst will be a subject matter expert on our data analytics platform. Understanding what data is available, how we bring new data sets in, being able to model those and expose them for insights reporting. Translating build requirements to developers. Working with stakeholders to deliver valuable data developments.
Embedded within an excellent, highly collaborative and supportive data, research and insights focused team. You will support and grow the data and insights domain within the Economist Group
Accountabilities
How you will contribute in this role:
Working closely with Insight analysts, Product Managers, Data Architects and development teams to ensure business data requirements are translated into appropriate technical data solutions, acting as a ‘translator’ between business, data and technology
Supporting research, data and insights with data lifecycle management, by fielding business requirements, creating backlog tasks, defining technical minimum acceptance criteria, and quality assuring technical solutions prior to implementation
Getting requirements analysis ready for the tech delivery team by performing source data evaluation, data system modelling, data mappings and data flow analysis
Providing detailed data mappings between source systems and target data models to the development team, based on business requirements.
Promoting data system efficiency and security by recommending enhancements to data operations and proposing data procedure improvements.
Understanding, interpreting and documenting business processes along with their underpinning data elements.
Supporting development and test teams with data requirements, and assisting with data integration and acceptance testing.
Experience, skills and professional attributes
What we’re looking for:
Experience with a data platform
Highly motivated, proactive and hunger to solve problems to an excellent standard
A STEM background
Experience performing analysis in the context of behavioural data and cloud analytics as well as transactional data
Working knowledge of data architecture principles (such as data warehouse design, data lakes, and ETL) as well as data technologies and languages (such as SQL, Python and R).
Ability to self-direct and take on broad projects from beginning to end
Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations and practices.With knowledge of PII and GDPR
Strong communication skills, especially in facilitating the use of new technology systems and understanding business requirements with broad set of stakeholders across levels, including senior management as required
