Job Description

The Pension Computation unit is responsible for ensuring that retirement benefits are precisely calculated by conducting audits, evaluating, and analyzing intricate data by maintaining accurate records and open communication with pensioners and other agencies.

Under the direction of the Director of the Pension Computation Unit, this candidate will perform a wide range of duties related to the evaluation, computation, and communication of complex service and salary data, as well as other benefits accruing to prospective and actual retirees and their beneficiaries. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive audits of various department's work, member pension records, personnel records, and timekeeping records;

  • Evaluate complex service and salary data to make accurate computations regarding retirement benefits, annuity accounts, increased take-home pay data, and other benefits;

  • Perform audit follow-up tasks, such as reviewing books and records, analyzing data, and determining the need for additional follow-up to ensure compliance;

  • Input and retrieve information using a computer and perform complex arithmetical computations to maintain control of accounts;

  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions;

  • Process payments promptly and accurately as required, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures;

  • Maintain accurate records, update files, and retrieve information using a combination of computerized and manual record-keeping systems;

  • Communicate with and respond to pensioners, other City and State agencies, PPF work units, and/or other retirement systems to obtain information and provide guidance;

  • Participate in other special projects as assigned.

Candidates must be permanent or on a viable civil service list in the Staff Analyst Trainee title to be considered for this position.

Salary: The hiring rate being offered for this position is $46,059. If you possess the preferred skills above, consideration will be given to offer you a maximum annual salary of no more than $50,000. If you currently work for the City for two consecutive years or more the hiring rate for this position is $52,968. The salary is non-negotiable.

Additional Information

NOTE: This is a full-time on-site position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a regular basis.

Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
