UPMC Research Assistant - NuMom2B Heart Health Study in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Research Assistant – Clinical Research to support the NuMom2B Heart Health Study.

The Catov Lab is a highly motivated and diverse research team with multiple grants focused on women’s health. Our research studies placental health, cardiovascular disease, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and other conditions that link pregnancy to long-term maternal health. We work with experts in the field to innovate and develop research protocols at the forefront of science. Our protocols have included echocardiography, MRI and cerebrovascular reactivity imaging, retinal imaging, blood biomarker testing, cognition assessments, intervention delivery, and more!

This position will support a cardiovascular health study that will recruit women approximately 15 years after pregnancy to complete a cardiovascular screening visit, cognition assessment, biomarker measurement, ultrasound imaging and physical activity. This lead research assistant position will be responsible for participant recruitment, enrollment and attending study visits. We are looking for a dynamic team member with strong communication skills, experience with study participants, patients, or customer service.

This position will work a 8am to 4pm schedule with flexibility to meet study needs. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

This position is grant funded.

Under Faculty or Research Associate supervision, the Clinical Research Assistant accurately performs research projects according to established study design and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain laboratory inventory, including timely ordering and receipt of required supplies and their proper storage.

  • Follow appropriate research policies and procedures including all applicable laws and regulations and maintains scientific integrity including accurate data storage.

  • Administer questionnaires and assists with procedures for obtaining patient screening and recruitment as well as obtaining research specimens.

  • Prepare, label, store and disposes of reagents, and calibrates equipment for research projects.

  • Assist in obtaining educational resources necessary to perform and interpret research and to remain abreast in research area of function.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, biology or other basic science or Bachelor of Arts degree in a science or health related field with a minimum of 15 credit hours in related science courses required.

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work with a diverse group of individuals preferred.
