POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager for DSV Solutions' BCM Team will be responsible for successful management, facilitation, and high-quality end delivery of Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementations within DSV Solutions sites for both new and existing Client business. This Project Manager role will work closely with the overall DSV Implementation Project Manager, DSV leadership, and the Client to ensure that each WMS project is on schedule, within scope, and on budget. Critical to success is detailed planning, proactive communication, and persistent monitoring of the execution of the WMS implementation deliverables under the responsibility of all project team resources to include internal DSV resources, the Client, and external contractors. Activities will be based out of one of the DSV Solutions clusters in the region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clear understanding of all phases of a WMS implementation, to include the core deliverables for each phase and the timing of the same.
  • Align input from the Client and Business to support the overall Implementation Project Manager in clearly capturing Project Scope.
  • Create a detailed task list (Project Schedule) for WMS implementations with milestones and critical path tasks to ensure no deliverables or dependencies are overlooked, to include both internal tasks and those of the Client and contractors.
  • Communicate the WMS implementation project scope and schedule to project resources and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and agreement.
  • Hold team members, contractors, et al. accountable to completion of deliverables pursuant to the task list and dates.
  • Manage WMS implementation project budget, scope, and timeline through proactive and effective communication including change control with appropriate approval.
  • Lead regular WMS implementation project status meetings with the project team to capture updates, next steps, and risks/mitigation. Facilitate small-group meetings for topics requiring more detailed discussion.
  • Escalate issues/risks appropriately to the overall Implementation Project Manager and to the Project Board.
  • Facilitate Project Board updates covering executive level status, budget, risks, and issues.
  • Assist the overall Implementation Project Manager in planning and effectively managing the transition from project execution to stable operations.
  • Serve as SME point of contact for more junior BCM Project Managers on process & tools.
  • Facilitate EDI workshops with Clients.
  • Planning Leadership
    • Build comprehensive project planning with clear tasks, due dates and named owners.
    • Ensure no planning gaps.
    • Use Lessons Learned from previous WMS implementations to improve project planning on future implementations.
  • Risk and Issue Mitigation Leadership
    • Constantly working to anticipate risks and proactively build mitigation plans with all relevant functions.
    • Constantly working to resolve issues as they arise and build mitigation plans with all relevant functions.
    • Follow through on results.
    • Facilitate communication and impact assessment of risks and issues to the Project Board and carry out Project Board decisions.
  • Team Leadership
    • Deliverables - ensure that each owner has a clear understanding of what they must deliver.
    • Drive - drive team ownership / high energy 'get the job done' culture. The Team owns the outcome - not just their specific task.
  • Project Ownership
    • Verify work in progress is being done correctly and confirming that it is done at a high-quality level. Not administratively asking if it's done and checking a task list.
    • Pro-active regular follow up on all open items. Checking progress throughout.
    • Willing to step in and do the work when it is needed to meet a deadline.
    • Escalate and pull in support before it is a crisis.
  • Project Oversight
    • Excellent Communication - knowing how to communicate to the project team and to the client (clear, concise, factual, need to know information).
    • Knowing when to pull the team together at frequent intervals during critical times of the project. Not remaining passive with only pre-scheduled project touchpoints regardless of project status or phase of project.
    • Knowing what success means and driving cross functional workstreams to meet it.
    • Ability to keep the team aligned and focused on the proper sequence of priorities and needed timing for completion.
    • Clearly defined, understood and consistent use of red, yellow, green status.
