What You Will Do:

As a Staff Electrical Engineer in R&D, you will work to developing innovative new products for the Surgical technologies group. A passion for innovation and creativity is desired for this role.

  • Plan and conduct engineering research, architect, design, development projects as assigned

  • Research new technologies, evaluate limits, test, and purpose solutions for the next-generation platform

  • Develop electronic control system architectures, including sensors, microprocessor controls, high-power DC and AC switching circuits, and power supplies

  • Design electronic products to perform reliably in severe EMI environments

  • Develop early-stage new product concepts, including hands-on design of embedded microprocessor and peripheral circuits, analog transducer interfaces, signal conditioning, and serial communications interfaces

  • Monitor and control progress of projects to ensure sound application of engineering principles are used and design intent is being followed/achieved

  • Coordinate with other engineers, vendors and senior managers as needed to ensure specific cost, time and/or safety, regulatory standards are met

  • Participate in VoC (Voice of the customer) sessions to get user feedback and translate them into design inputs

  • Own the creation of engineering specifications for product creation

  • Submit periodic reports on assigned topics to appropriate personnel

  • Will train others on functionally related topics

  • Will evaluate the results of projects and provide assistance as needed

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience.

  • Proficient in the operation of RF laboratory equipment, including signal generators, network and spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, Sensors, etc.

  • Background in DC brushed/brushless motor designs

  • Experience in using OrCAD PCB Designer, Cadence, or Altium Designer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with embedded electro-mechanical sub-systems, sensors, motors, and peripherals.

  • SW Embedded language experience for correlating electronic functionality requirements to SW control algorithms
