SUMMARY

As a Cytotechnologist, your developed examination and evaluation skills are key factors in identifying disease in gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides, leading to critical discovery for patient care.

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Cytology Labs

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, Days | 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

ATTRIBUTES
  • Bachelor's in Cytotechnology
  • New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Cytotechnologist.
  • Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory a benefit, but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Specimen & Equipment Management. Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens by microscope; document results on worksheets and in the laboratory information system; assist with fine needle aspirations, specimen preparation and staining; maintain cytology workload records
  • Leadership. Make suggestions to improve work methods and efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems; promote and support a positive team environment; participate in the planning and accomplishment of goals and objectives
  • General Maintenance. Perform and document routine maintenance on microscope(s) and quality control rescreening if qualified

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $37.50 - $41.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
