Competitive Intelligence Manager-Assistant Director - GPS - Practice Team

The Business Development organization shapes and drives an integrated growth strategy across EY’s largest accounts, industry sectors, solutions and services, while demonstrating and achieving market leadership through a client centric culture.

The Opportunity

The Competitive Intelligence Manager will operate as a member of the GPS Business Development team and will be an integral part of our team, assisting in the planning, development, and execution of Competitive Intelligence (CI) initiatives. Your insights will play a crucial role in guiding our approach to influencing the strategy for the largest, most complex, and most strategic opportunities withing EY GPS.

A Competitive Intelligence Manager is responsible for leading the competitive intelligence team in monitoring, analyzing, storing, and reporting on market trends and competitor activities to enable informed decision-making and strategic planning. The role requires a blend of leadership skills, research and analytical skills, business acumen, and an understanding of various industries and competitive landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:

The Competitive Intelligence Manager is an integral member of the business development team by leading the Competitive Intelligence team in providing actionable competitor intelligence that informs market and proposal strategies. As a Competitive Intelligence Manager, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the Competitive Intelligence function within EY US Government & Public Sector including;

  • Data Collection & Analysis:

  • Collect data on competitors' strategies, solutions, pricing, and market presence.

  • Utilize various information sources, such as industry reports, news articles, company publications, customer reviews, Freedom of Information Act, and public financial records.

  • Gather data on competitor’s solution, services, past performances, win strategies and behaviors.

  • Conduct Win/Loss reviews to understand why we win and lose, and how to counter competitor strategies.

  • Reporting & Communication:

  • Compile and present regular reports on competitive intelligence findings to key stakeholders.

  • Organize data into user-friendly formats, such as charts, graphs, and executive summaries, and databases.

  • Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations based on analysis.

  • Market Monitoring:

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic factors that may impact the competitive landscape.

  • Track and analyze market share changes, industry benchmarks, and key performance indicators.

  • Assist with pipeline development & market research

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with solution development, sales, marketing, and strategic planning teams to understand their intelligence needs.

  • Support mergers and acquisitions activities by providing due diligence and risk assessment from a competitive standpoint.

  • Tool Proficiency:

  • Utilize business intelligence tools, databases, and competitive intelligence software to gather and analyze information efficiently.

  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in data analytics platforms and methodologies.

  • Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, & develop others in the Competitive Intelligence Analyst role.

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • Minimum 7 years experience in Federal, State & Local Government, or Commercial Business

  • Minimum 3 years of Competitive Intelligence experience in Federal or State & Local Government contracting

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Sciences, or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Strong understanding of the government pursuit process and the role of competitive intelligence within the process

  • Strong research, leadership, executive presence, and influencing skills

  • Effective oral (virtual/in-person) and written communications

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of tools; Word, PowerPoint, and high-level proficiency in Excel

  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools

  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner

  • Planning, time management and organizational skills

  • Minimum Secret clearance eligibility

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $101,900 to $184,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $122,300 to $210,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
