About the role

This position is for a Field Service Engineer who ensures that customers receive timely, efficient, and effective support to maximize the performance and longevity of the products or systems. When issues arise, service engineers diagnose problems, identify the root causes, and develop solutions to rectify them. This often requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Provide technical support to customers, answering queries, offering guidance on product usage, and resolving issues remotely or on-site. Effective communication skills are crucial for understanding customer needs and explaining technical solutions clearly.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Commission and test of F&G equipment or systems at customer sites globally.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues remotely or on-site, utilizing problem-solving skills and technical expertise.

  • Coordinate with customers to understand their needs and provide effective solutions and support.

  • Train customer personnel on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and customer support, to ensure customer satisfaction and product improvement.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on-site and during travel.

  • Provide technical assistance and support to colleagues and customers via phone, email, or video conferencing when not on-site.

  • Perform technical tasks in projects (both local and oversea).

  • Design the system, such as layout, network, ensure correct powering and redundancy, verify space for all equipment, according to AFS and DEC basic design standards.

  • Responsible for project documentation.

  • Report eventual problems with products and project execution to Technical Manager.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in the project and report possibilities to Technical Manager.

  • Cooperation and follow-up of vendors and sub-contractors.

  • Technical contact point with other delivery groups in projects when assigned as the responsible PM within the project

  • Assist Technical Manager to prepare proposals.

  • Develop a close cooperation with RSM’s to support customers in technical issues.

Requirements

We are looking for people who are meticulous in details and familiar in handling customer databases. If this is you, get in touch.

As a minimum you must have:

  • Diploma / Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation)

  • Proven experience as a service engineer, field engineer, or similar role, preferably in an international setting.

  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic systems.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing effective solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice, and work flexible hours as needed.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety practices.

  • Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screenings as required by employers or customers.

  • Ability to adapt to different cultures, climates, and working conditions while traveling internationally.

  • Experience and Knowledge of Fire and Gas products.
