Key job responsibilities

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and deliver high-performance, low-power, stable connectivity platform for world class consumer products. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop and enhance Wi-Fi and networking software for Amazon's consumer products;

  • Optimize Wi-Fi and network performance and power consumption for connectivity platforms;

  • Engage with vendors to integrate Wi-Fi chipset solutions;

  • Collaborate with other software teams to design and deliver unique customer features on top of Wi-Fi for next-gen Amazon products;

  • Provide Amazon Customer Support technical assistance to trouble shoot customer issues;

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in delivering Wi-Fi based products

  • 3+ years of experience and knowledge on IEEE802.11/Wi-Fi protocols such as Wi-Fi Direct, WPA, 802.11ac/ax, and etc.

  • 3+ years of experience in Wi-Fi development and debugging tools such as protocol analyzer

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Have prior experience with Wi-Fi solutions from one or more major Wifi chipset vendors

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP internals and common network protocols such as DHCP, DNS, HTTP, and etc.

  • Knowledge with Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy protocols

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
