We are looking for an AFM Draftsperson to plan, prepare, develop and revise detailed engineering drawings for manufacture and/or assembly, which will require individual judgement and initiative in the application of drafting / engineering principals, techniques and methods on all Howden products. The AFM Draftsperson will responsible to ensure that projects and services are successfully delivered on budget, on time and to the required engineering and design standards.

What needs to be done?

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing drafting works without supervision for various projects.

  • Applying established engineering principles and standards in the design and preparation of drawings

  • Monitoring and controlling the quality, timeliness and cost of delivery of drafting works

  • Providing support for tendering, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance activities

  • Creating/re-issuing manufacturing, layout and general arrangement drawings

  • Compiling Lists of Parts to provide project engineers with accurate scope of work

  • Ensuring drawings are comprehensively set out and fully dimensioned with reasonable tolerances to facilitate effective construction or manufacture using normally available equipment and processes

  • Performing basic engineering design calculations to facilitate accuracy of detail designs

  • Ensuring engineering documentation is effectively identified and filed

  • Checking the drawings prepared by the other draftspersons when directed.

  • Re-issuing existing drawings and creation of high complexity drawings

  • Continually improving / developing drafting systems and skills

  • Checking drawings of the standard Howden products

  • Participating and positively contributing in meetings and workshops

What do you need to bring?

  • Diploma level qualification in Engineering/drafting

  • Drafting and mechanical drawing experience

  • Computer literacy, competency in MS Office applications

  • High proficiency in Inventor and AutoCAD

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Compliance to design and instructions

  • Ability to work independently, organise and prioritise demand, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, and set and meet deadlines.

  • Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn, and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidlychanging structure, process, information and/or technology

  • Ability to work under pressure with proactive and positive can do attitude

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Good team player with accountability and results driven approach.

The following would also be highly regarded:

  • Trade qualification in manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • Familiarity of Autodesk Vault

  • Fan drafting experience

  • Knowledge of civil drawing techniques

  • Detailed understanding of Welding and Machining requirements and specifications

The role is can be Sydney, Cardiff, or Brisbane based, and will involve minimal requirement to travel to customer sites and suppliers.
