PACIV Automation Engineer - Rhode Island in West Greenwich, Rhode Island

PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions with offices in Puerto Rico, United States, and Ireland, and servicing the Life Sciences, F&B, WTP/WWTP, and Utilities industries, is looking for a full-time Automation Engineer Level based out of our USA office (Rhode Island).

This role will be integrated with our existing Outsourcing Services Provider (OSP) business model for the Client, which is comprised of a team of PACIV associates executing and maintaining various Validation and Automation tasks and business functions.  PACIV’s OSP team is responsible for supporting the client’s commercial facility that manufactures multiple commercial and clinical bulk drug substances by providing seamless support to Quality and Manufacturing operations and their respective groups.      

Job Description:

The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, testing, and troubleshooting automated PLC processes/GMP utilities equipment and systems in partnership with our Client’s Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.  These support services will typically be performed working within the Client’s Utilities, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and/or Automation department team(s).   

Job Responsibilities:

+ + Design, programming, implementation, and testing support for new Control System/Automation projects within regulated environments.

  • Participate in capital projects, new installations, testing, and modernization projects for new PLC systems.

  • Provide front-line technical support, problem-solving, and maintenance support for Utility systems supporting Client’s automated manufacturing systems.

  • Participate in root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting of control issues.

  • Note: Will require periodic, rotational on-call support for a 24/7 manufacturing environment

  • Implement modifications/updates and continuous process improvement solutions for existing automated equipment and stand-alone control systems.

  • System administrative activities such as user access control and review, GMP systems periodic review, and data integrity/security assessments.

  • Lead efforts for the remediation, migration, and/or upgrade of existing systems

  • Implementation of document updates for design specifications, SOPs, operating standards, engineering documents, drawings, etc.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in Engineering or Technical discipline required
  • Knowledge and understanding of control systems governed by platforms such as Allen Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLC systems, GE Proficy platform, Siemens controllers, and JCI Metasys for BMS/CMS, Facility, and Utility systems

  • Experience with SCADA HMI interfaces (FactoryTalk View, iFix, WonderWare, etc.).

  • Understanding of network communication protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Profibus, DeviceNet, etc.)

  • Familiarity and ability to read Electrical Drawings, Schematics, Line Diagrams and P&ID, which depict the electrical theory, operation, and control of a system

  • Familiarity with industry standards of control systems, software development life cycle methodologies, 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP, and GDP

  • Comfortable with a 24/7 manufacturing environment

  • Can handle a high-pressure, high-stress work environment

    Preferred Qualifications :

    • Experience with Automated Systems governed by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device fields
  • Ability to build and implement control applications through PLC programming and HMI graphic design

  • Works well with others within a team and takes accountability

  • Result-driven and self-motivated

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and presentation)

  • Organized, with strong computer literacy such as MS Word, Project, Excel, etc

    Other Requirements

    Location:  Rhode Island

    Travel: Up to 10% for various trainings, conferences, or meetings with vendors, suppliers, etc.

    Compensation:

    Competitive Salary and Benefits Package, which includes:
