Day in the Life of an Engineering Manager

Fluke Corporation in Wroclaw, Poland seeks a Mechanical Engineer Manager to lead a fast-paced and highly collaborative Mechanical team in Europe to develop and improve professional test equipment. Our team is an industry leader in developing innovative electro/mechanical products that serve a wide variety of market needs worldwide. This position will report to a Mechanical Engineer Global Manager located in the US.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage and develop a group of Mechanical Engineers distributed across the EU. This team is in charge of the development of products from concept through launch and continues improving our portfolio. As Mechanical Engineer Manager, you will interact and collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external teams such as Project Management, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, suppliers and external partners, Electrical and Firmware Engineering teams, Business units, Product Compliance, and Project Coordinators.

The leader of this team will drive planning, allocate resources, and develop teams to ensure projects and programs are delivered on time, in scope, and in budget.

Responsibilities

  • Build & lead a team of diverse skills in the mechanical domain.

  • Owns oversight and roadmap for Engineering infrastructure including in-house lab and rapid prototype equipment.

  • Works with PMO organizations and other engineering leaders to set the priorities for the teams and select projects to meet business needs and team capabilities.

  • Coordinates project requirements, communicate status and monitor progress.

  • Perform personnel management duties establishing and documenting clearly defined performance goals and objectives.

  • Continuously learn and improve processes to efficiently develop high-quality products in a timely manner.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship. and work directions for the team members.

  • Collaborate and support the Operations team

    Your Team

You will be part of a global engineering organization with members in Europe, North America, and Asia, leading and developing a team of seven Mechanical Engineers distributed across the EU.

Your team will closely interact, collaborate, and align with the mechanical team in the US.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience.

  • Strong technical mentorship skills.

  • Strong technical background in designing mechanical systems, particularly around plastic injection, sheet metal, and machine parts.

  • Strong technical background in product design processes and continuous product improvement activities, collaborating with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.

  • Proven experience in building and developing teams.
